Book Review: Constantly Craving

Constantly Craving by Marilyn Meberg is my latest book review for Booksneeze. I was first introduced to Meberg when I attended a Women of Faith conference several years ago, and have since read a couple of other books that she's authored. I've found her to be witty, sincere and encouraging in her public speaking as well as in her writing.

Based on the title of the book, I expected it to focus mainly on physical desires (and, specifically, on food). I was pleasantly surprised, however, to discover that Meberg addresses many emotional and spiritual cravings, ranging from craving more from our relationships to craving more purpose in our lives. She reminds us that we all have certain cravings built into us from the beginning--i.e., it's not wrong to crave more. She discusses why we long for things to be different and emphasizes that, ultimately, God is the only One who can truly satisfy every longing of our hearts.

This wasn't the most spiritually deep book that I've ever read, but I did enjoy it. It was encouraging to have an author address so many aspects where we often feel we're the only ones wanting "more". If you find yourself always wanting more and don't know how to handle it, I think you'd find this to be an uplifting read.
