Worn

This is turning out to be one of those weeks where I drag myself home at the end of the day, exhausted and spent. I kept thinking today was Tuesday when it, in fact, is Wednesday. Normally I would rejoice in having the workweek fly by so quickly and being one day closer to the weekend, but I am up to my eyeballs in projects so I could actually use a little more time in my week, not less.

On top of the busy workload, I've had to deal with car repairs this week (including one that's been a recurring problem over the past year and a half), which has been frustrating. I got the car back today (and thankfully my kind parents loaned me one of theirs to use while mine was being worked on) so I'm hopeful that all issues, recurring and not, are resolved.

Several months ago I first heard the song "Worn" by Tenth Avenue North, and it's one of those songs that comes back to me on days like today when I feel totally brain fried by day's end. Although I currently feel more mentally and physically worn out than emotionally, I still find the song to be comforting in the midst of what feels like a somewhat chaotic week. And perhaps someone (perhaps you?) need to be comforted by the song today, which is why I'm sharing it with you now.

I’m tired I’m worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
I’ve made mistakes
I’ve let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world

And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn

I know I need to lift my eyes up
But I'm too weak
Life just won’t let up
And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn

My prayers are wearing thin
Yeah, I’m worn
Even before the day begins
Yeah, I’m worn
I’ve lost my will to fight
I’m worn
So, heaven come and flood my eyes

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause all that’s dead inside will be reborn

Though I’m worn
Yeah I’m worn

I woke up thinking about this song today. I am worn right now, too. Hope you rested well last night and are feeling better in this new day!

Thanks, Tamara! I did rest well last night and am not as tired today, even though it was another busy day. Ironically, when I got in the car after work "Worn" was playing on the radio. :) Hope today was a better day for you as well.
